Résumé:
The text for this course will be:
Fricker Miranda, Epistemic injustice: power and the ethics of knowing. Oxford: OUP, 2007.
In this highly influential work, Fricker develops an account of distinctively epistemic forms of injustice – as, for example, when testimony is ignored because it comes from a woman or a member of a minority group. We will ask to what extent Fricker’s theory can help us to understand familiar phenomena related to knowing, telling, and understanding in the social and political sphere.
